Well yes, but the special offer 10x50 are a nice binocular at a very
cheap price. In the unlikely event that you don't like them you can sell
them on eBay for about £35.

The 8x56's that are at Lidl are a different design from the Bresser Jagd
Porro 8x56 and from the Bresser Jagd Roof Prism 8x56, so I don't know
how they compare. The Jagd Porro and Jagd Roof Prism ones are available
from other retailers for £75 and £84 respectively. Lidl doesn't say much
about the specifications. It does say that they have Bak-4 multi coated
objective lens, but the Jagds have Bak-4 optics throughout. The Lidl
model does come with a 5 year manufacturer's warranty whereas Bresser
only give a 1 year warranty on the Jagds.

Interesting - these appear to sell elsewhere at £175 upwards. I thought
at first that they might be fairly compact but the spec indicates that
this is definitely not the case. http://preview.tinyurl.com/yuz73z

a Bresser spotting scope "ideal for watching wildlife", and an astronomy
refractor on an equatorial mount. Aldi had a 75mm Newtonian reflector on an
equatorial mount a while ago, with "Cartes du Ciel" astronomy software -
£70. Jessops were doing a similar scope at the weekend for £45 but only on
an alt-azimuth mounting.

Can anyone give me advice as to which is better for birdwatching?

The 10x50mm at £9.99 or the 8x56mm at £79.99.

The difference in price is huge so what is it that the 8x56mm has that
the 10x50mm doesn't, will it actually find the birds for you? heh :)
